New materials in construction – Timber-Concrete Composite Structures – webinar

május 5. @ 10:00 - 11:00

Discover the latest innovations in the construction industry in this webinar, where the focus is on the benefits of wood-concrete composites in the context of sustainable construction.
How can we achieve sustainability in the design and construction of buildings while reducing environmental impacts?

Topics

Timber-Concrete Composite Structures
The online lecture will examine the architectural applications and structural mechanisms of Timber Concrete Composites, placing special emphasis on the rehabilitation of historic timber floors.
Timber Concrete Composites has been successfully utilized for strengthening timber beams since the 1930s and offers a sustainable solution in architectural design.

Lecturer: Tamas Juhasz has been a faculty member at the University of Pecs in Hungary since 2009. After completing his studies, he recognized the importance of gaining experience in the structural engineering design industry.
In 2016, he obtained licensure as an independent structural engineer and has since contributed to the design of over one hundred buildings.
Mr. Juhasz strongly emphasizes the preservation of architectural heritage and prioritizes sustainability in his work. Additionally, he has researched Timber Concrete Composites in collaboration with Metropolitan State University of Denver USA.

Target group: Curiost consortium members and Central European SMEs

Date: 5 May 2025 Monday 10:00-11:00

The lecture will be held in English online without translation.

The Curiost project is focused on the circular economy and is dedicated to supporting SMEs and small mid-caps in developing sustainable products and new circular business models. Through an innovative and collaborative approach, Curiost aims to promote the adoption of environmentally friendly practices that reduce environmental impact, increase resource efficiency and promote the reuse of materials.

Curiost activities are concentrated in four key sectors: mechanics and mechatronics, where it fosters innovation in sustainable technologies; packaging, with a focus on eco-friendly solutions; plastics, promoting the use of sustainable materials and practices; and construction, encouraging environmentally responsible building and infrastructure development.
